This HP is produced by Prof. Kiyotoshi Wada, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Niigata University, as a part of "Morning Glories Database" by Dr. Yoshiaki Yoneda,Prof.Emeritus of Shizuoka University, in collaboration with Prof. Yuji Tsukii, Hosei University,in the project "Construction of Biological Image Databases" supported by the Soken-Taxa Project, at The Graduate University for Advanced Studies (Sokendai) Taxonomically it has not yet been concluded whether the Japanese morning glory should be included in the genus of Pharbitis or Ipomoea. However, the majority of plant physiologists, especially flowering physiologists, have been using the name Pharbitis nil and therefore Pharbitis nil is used here.
