4. Alternative ideas on the florigen concept | |
Although almost 70 years have elapsed since its existence was proposed,
florigen has not been isolated yet. Some plant biologists say that florigen
has not been isolated because it does not exist, and do not assume the
existence of florigen to explain the regulating mechanism of the flowering
process. The alternative ideas include the presence of multiple factors,
a flowering inhibitor, and electrical signals. |
